An unofficial summary of facts (addresses, types, units, scaling) from the maker's manual. Not affiliated with the maker; values can differ by firmware or model. Always check the device manual before writing (run commands, settings).
Default communication
| Protocol | Modbus RTU |
|---|---|
| Baud (factory) | 9600 bps — options: 1200, 2400, 4800, 9600, 19200, 38400 |
| Data · parity · stop | 8 · None · 1 |
| Slave ID (factory) | 31 (1~255) |
| Max per request | 16 registers |
| Manual address style | Wire address as is (0-based) |
- Addressing: the read example (p.224) sends 02 03 00 20 00 04 45 F0 to read 4 registers from 0020H (drive status 1); the write example (p.225) sends 01 10 00 01 00 02 04 00 01 17 70, writing 0001h (forward run) to 0001H and 1770h to 0002H (response 01 10 00 01 00 02 10 08). Manual address = frame address. CRCs of the read command, write response, error responses (02 83 03 F1 31, 01 90 02 CD C1) and loopback (01 08 00 00 A5 37 DA 8D) match calculation. The normal read response CRC is printed AF 82 but computes to D5 6B, and the write command CRC is printed 6D 67 but computes to 6D B7; this does not affect addressing.
- Only function codes 03H (read, up to 16 registers), 08H (loopback) and 10H (write multiple) — no 06H (p.222, p.224).
- Defaults: H5-01 address 1F (31), range 0-FF (0 = no response); H5-02 3 = 9600 bps (0-5 = 1200-38400); H5-03 0 = no parity (1 even, 2 odd); 8 data bits and 1 stop bit fixed, RTU only (p.212, p.217). Cycle power after changes.
- For RS-485 keep H5-07 = 1 (default); on the last drive set DIP switch S2 on the SI-485/J to ON (termination) (pp.214-216).
Registers (34)
«Wire» is the 0-based address in the request frame (PortDock's «0-based» notation). Value = raw × scale. Table: HR holding register, IR input register, CO coil, DI discrete input. Function codes in hex.
Swipe the table sideways — the first column (manual address) stays put.

Notes
- To run and set frequency by communication set b1-02 = 2 and b1-01 = 2 (p.220 Table C.1).
- Frequency reference 0002H, frequency reference monitor 0023H and output frequency 0024H are not included: the table (pp.226-227) says their unit is set by H5-13, whose default 0 is «0.1Hz / 1» (p.219), but the write example in the same manual (p.225) gives 1770h (6000) as 60.00 Hz, so the scaling disagrees. Because H5-13 also sets the «frequency monitor unit», U1-01/U1-02 (0040H/0041H, 0.01 Hz in the table on p.203) are left out too. Read frequency through 00B8H and 003FH, whose unit is fixed at 0.01%.
- Output current 0026H and drive rated current 00ABH have no unit in the table (p.227, p.229) and are left out (use 0042H, 8192 = 100% rated). U4-01 at 004CH is also left out: the monitor table (p.204) says 1 h units while footnote <3> (p.205) says the communication value is in 10 h units, so read 0098H/0099H instead.
- Parameters changed by communication are applied to RAM only; write 0 to 0900H to keep them (p.233). Parameter addresses are in the Addr. Hex column of the Appendix B tables.
Read it with PortDock
- Install the free PortDock Modbus Master and connect with the device's settings.
- On the table toolbar, «Device profile…» → pick this device → «Load». Polling tables, names, types and the Slave ID are filled in (optionally the serial settings too).
- Names carry the unit and scale (e.g. «×0.01 Hz»). Values on screen are raw — multiply by the scale.
- To test your program without the device, PortDock Modbus Slave's «Emulate device…» serves the same map with example values.
